B.A. Music and Mathematics with Year Abroad Full-time

Year: 4
2026/27 Session

Students must take 40 credits of independent study selected from the modules below. Independent Study modules: Students may take two 20 credit Independent Study modules in Music OR one 40 credit Special Subject module in Music Independent Study modules: OR Independent Study modules: Students can take one 20 credit Independent Study module in Music plus the 20 credit module in Mathematics: 23753 LH Research Skills in Mathematics Independent Study modules: OR Independent Study modules: Students can take the 20-credit 23753 LH Research Skills in Mathematics and its co-requisite 20 credit module in Mathematics. (The co-requisite module should be chosen from the optional list below having first been discussed with the Personal Tutor. It should be chosen such that there exists alignment in content and learning outcomes with the Research Skills in Mathematics module)

Maths: students must take the 20-credit 23753 LH Research Skills in Mathematics in Sem 2 & its co-requisite 20 credit module in Mathematics (in Sem 1) PLUS ONE 20-credit Option in Semester 1 & ONE 20-credit Option in Semester 2.

Music: Students choose ONE 20-credit Option in Semester 1 & ONE 20-credit Option in Semester 2
Maths: students must take 23753 in Sem 2 & its co-requisite 20c module in Mathematics (in Sem 2) PLUS TWO 20c Options in Sem 1.
Students taking 60 credits in Music & 60 in Maths:
Music: Students choose ONE 20-credit Option in Semester 1 PLUS the 40-credit Special Study module OR two 20-credit Independent Study modules (full year)

Music only: Students may also apply to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H. If successful this will be taken in place of one of their semester 1 taught modules in Music only. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation. Students who undertook a Professional Skills module at level I will not be able to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H.
